Juvenile chokes to death after swallowing bottle top

A four-year-old boy from Lion Park (formerly Lion and Cheetah Park), about 40 kilometers northwest of the capital Harare, died last Saturday after chocking on a bottle top that he mistakenly swallowed while playing with other children, the police have said.

In other incidents, the police confirmed the arrest of 52-year-old Edson Kanyemba in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza, whom they found with 19.5 kg of marijuana with a street value of US$2 000 on March 6.

In Shamva, Mashonaland Central province, another suspected drug dealer,Blessing Manwere (43) was arrested the following day leading to the recovery of 97 satchets of marijuana and a cardboard box full of loose drugs.

In both cases the police managed to arrest the suspected drug dealers after receiving tip offs from the public.

Meanwhile two residents of Mhangura, Mashonaland West province, lost US13 960 and 40 grams of gold worth US$1 200, three cellphones as well as a Honda Fit vehicle to four suspected robbers that pounced on their house on March 8 around 2AM.

The robbers were wearing balaclavas and were armed with a pistol, machetes and a hammer. – New Ziana
