The Borrowdale Residents and Ratepayers Association (BRRA) has welcomed its new committee members after the association’s annual general meeting held recently.

The committee, led by chairperson Mr Robert Mutyasira, has seen minimal changes, with most members retaining their positions, while adding new faces to key roles.

Mr Mutyasira expressed his confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver effective and efficient service.

“We are elated that the residents have shown confidence in us once again and as usual we are raring to go in our pursuit of effective and efficient service delivery. We have a new thrust towards transforming our neighbourhoods into prime locations where only the best is found,” he said.

The newly appointed vice chairperson Jennifer Chiutsi, and the understudy to the secretary, Bianca Ludick, bring fresh perspectives and energy to the committee.

Mr Mutyasira said that the committee’s focus on service delivery extends to essential utilities, with a commitment to addressing the ongoing challenges faced by residents.

“Residents must have potable water in their homes within a reasonable time from now. The recurrent electricity challenges need to be addressed as a matter of urgency. The cosmetic responses the power authority is giving us are not satisfactory,” he said.

In addition to utility concerns, the committee aims to foster economic growth and order in the community.

Mr Mutyasira added that the committee is resolute in its commitment to environmental protection.

“The war against environmental miscreants is real and we are not going to stand by and watch as our future is decimated by greedy and inconsiderate individuals. My committee will use all available resources and acumen in this fight,” said Mr Mutyasira.

With the inclusion of representatives from the suburbs of Glen Lorne and Philadelphia, the committee anticipates greater effectiveness in its efforts.

Looking ahead, the BRRA committee is optimistic about the support it will receive from both individuals and corporates within Ward 18 which covers Borrowdale, Borrowdale Brooke, Helensvale, Carrick Creagh, Hogerty Hill, Glen Lone, Greystone Park, Umwinsidale, Quinnington, Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

The BRRA committee’s renewed vigour and dedication to enhancing the quality of life for residents of Ward 18 reflects a promising start to their tenure, with a clear vision for the future.
