Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has urged Zanu PF supporters to go out in their numbers and vote for the party’s candidate in the Harare East parliamentary by-elections Cde Kiven Mutimbanyoka.

Speaking at a rally held at Chikurubi Dam View on Saturday, VP Chiwenga also urged Zanu PF supporters to be united and vote in peace.

“We want to dance in jubilation on the 28th of April or on 27 April in the evening when results are announced showing that you went in huge numbers and voted for Cde Kiven Mutimbanyoka,” he said.

VP Chiwenga said the Harare East by-elections have afforded the ruling Zanu PF party another opportunity to fix things since the opportunity was lost in the August 2023 elections.

“This opportunity must not be lost as there will be endless regret,” he said.

VP Chiwenga said Harare is one area that has been neglected for 23 years under the opposition (council) leadership.

“First it was MDC, then they started CCC. If you have decided to embark on politics, you should join the others and not doing it alone, you won’t go far,” he said, in reference to former CCC leader Mr Nelson Chamisa’s structureless party .

VP Chiwenga said Harare is where all the three pillars of Government are but has been turned into something less attractive.

“But we say today is where this ends.

“Let’s go ahead under the leadership of Zanu PF fixing the challenges such as the water woes, dealing with challenges at the cantonments here in Chikurubi and Support Unit.

“These things will be done because we are not talking parables. The days of talking parables are in the past,” he said.

VP Chiwenga said the water crisis in the city needed a lasting solution as boreholes were only a temporary measure.

“Boreholes are not a lasting solution but a temporary measure to alleviate the water challenges being faced by families so that they get clean water.

“Under the Presidential Borehole Drilling programme, this will be done as a short term but to deal with water challenges in Chikurubi and other suburbs such as Greendale, Chisipite and going towards Ruwa, we will do this under the programme to bring clean water under the masterplan that includes the completion of Kunzvi dam.

“As we speak Kunzvi is at 50 percent completion and we expect it to be completed next year.”
