All set for Great Zimbabwe rally

THE Great Zimbabwe Rally is set to come into life later today in Masvingo with a host of motor  bikers expected to grace the event from across the country and the regional   such as  Namibia, Zambia, South Africa among others.

A number of rallying activities have been included from mass ride, street event, and slow ride amongst many motorcycling games.

Titanium Motorcycle Club president Natasha Mutsvairo said the Great Zimbabwe rally is an annual event that attracts people from every corner of the region.

“We have a biking rally starting today till Sunday in Masvingo. It is an annual rally that sees riders coming from all over Zimbabwe and the region and we are hosting it,” she said.

“This year’s event will run under the theme ‘Ride, Inspire, Empower, #CelebratingWomen.’

“As part of our drive we shall be donating to Alpha Cottages and we have been welcoming anyone who intends to partner us.

“Donations came in the form of disposable sanitary pads, underwear and socks for both girls and boys and food stuff.

“Our aim is to build confidence in our wards and ensuring they do not have to worry about the little things is our way of helping.

We are also taking hygiene packs in old handbags, bags (Creativity is encouraged) which include roll on, soap and lotion and any other items can be donated.

Among the rally’s lined up events, the bikers felt that the charity donation is now one of their favourites due to its impact.

Charity Ambassador Chenge Makawa said it’s helping to reflect their image against the popular opinion that riders are rowdy.

“As bikers we love to spread the love and there is a misconception that we are rowdy, rude and just like racing around. On top of that they think we are not morally upright,” she said.

“With our charity events it is to show otherwise that we are full of love for our community. In every rally there is always a charity event to give to the less fortunate.

“We are doing a sanitary and underwear drive for the girl and boy child. We thought of having the boy covered as well as we don’t want to overlook the boy child.

“So our charity runs define who we are, and we are looking forward to going beyond our country in the future as a motorcycle club.”
