Ward 18 Councillor and chairperson of the Young Women 4ED Harare Chapter Rufaro Matsika and members of her organisation on Friday cleaned Borrowdale and Mbare suburbs as part of the National Clean Up Campaign.

President Mnangagwa launched the National Clean Up Campaign a few years ago as a way of promoting cleanliness in urban areas and at growth points.

In Mbare, the clean-up covered Mbare Musika, Nenyere and Matapi Flats under the theme “Clean Up Mbare, Sweeping GBV Out”.

In Borrowdale, the clean-up was dubbed “Open Streets for the National Clean Up” and covered the area around Borrowdale Primary School, Ridgeway North and along Liberation Legacy Way.

“As the Councillor for Ward 18 Harare East Constituency and also the chairperson for YW4ED Harare Chapter and team as well as the residents too, we embarked on the clean-up campaign as mandated by His Excellency Dr ED Mnangagwa to be done every first Friday of each calendar month.     The President has set the tone and we follow suit so that we have cleaner environments in our homes, workplaces, schools, shopping centres, our communities and our city and nation of Zimbabwe at large. Let’s continue working towards a cleaner Zimbabwe. We also have council representation from our Greystone Park district office led by the district officer, Netsai Kativhu,” said Cllr Matsika.
