SUNRIDGE residents are still experiencing water problems as the water coming out of their taps has terribly low pressure.

Following months of dry taps, water supplies were restored recently but the residents’ frustrations are far from over.

Residents of the suburb started receiving water on Monday last week following some maintenance to the tank used as a reservoir for Avonlea, Marlborough and Sunridge.

The residents said the water has been trickling in their taps as it has no pressure.

“We had water for three days and then the supplies were cut,” said a resident.

Acting district officer for Mabelreign and Marlborough Mrs Jane Gambiza attributed the low pressure to the shortage of water treatment chemicals currently being experienced.

“Our usual supplier (Zimphos) is saying they cannot cope with the demand.

“That’s when we went for about three weeks without water,” she said.

Mrs Gambiza was addressing residents at a service delivery meeting for Sunridge on Sunday.

Residents also asked why Sunridge has been the most affected suburb when it comes to the water crisis.

In response, Mrs Gambiza said the city is trying to implement a water demand management where suburbs are assured of receiving water at least two days per week.

“They try to say like each area gets water maybe two days a week in order to meet the demand with the little chemicals that we have.

“I think you have observed that it has been coming for about a day or two for the past two to three weeks.

“For them to give everyone water Monday to Sunday it’s no longer possible for now,” she said.
