Crime is on the increase in Mandara as the suburb’s neigbhourhood watch committee is reportedly in shambles leaving residents to live in fear.

The dysfunctional state of the neighbourhood watch has come to light following numerous reports by residents who continue to raise alarm over the criminal activities in the suburb including mostly theft from vehicles.

Residents say the Mandara area has become a crime hotspot as the neighbourhood watch is failing to contain the situation.

Police reiterate warning on use of pirate taxis. Members of the public are urged to use public transport not mushikashika vehicles as they may risk losing valuables to criminals.

Police in Harare are investigating circumstances surrounding a robbery case which occurred along ED Mnangagwa Road (formerly Enterprise Road) in Harare on Monday 7 June 2021 in which a man (28) was robbed US$117 and ZWL$40 by four suspects after he boarded a Silver Toyota Wish vehicle in Harare central business district intending to go to Newlands.

In a similar case of robbery, a man (33) was stabbed with a knife on the hand and robbed US$30 after he boarded a white Isuzu motor vehicle at Jumbo turn off in Mazowe. Investigations are underway. Reported by the Zimbabwe Republic Police on June 9, 2021
