THE City of Harare in partnership with various stakeholders conducted a successful open streets event along  Ridgeway North Road in Borrowdale last Saturday.

In most cities, living space is very small leaving nothing open to be used for entertainment or recreational activities.

As a result of this state of affairs, the City of Harare has introduced the concept of open streets in residential areas to accommodate creative expressional forms of transport.

There was a huge turnout at last Saturday’s event as communities were presented with a platform to connect through socialisation.

Open streets is a car free event that enables the residents to participate in various events such as jogging, cycling, walking and skating among others.

The City of Harare thanked its partners who included corporates such as Safeguard who attended the event to provide support to the Zimbabwe Republic Police which was tasked with controlling and redirecting traffic, security on the street; redirection assistance, Medal Paints who supplied the paint for the mural and Alliance Media. — City of Harare
