OK offers pensioners’ grocery discounts

LEADING supermarket chain OK Zimbabwe has announced a scheme for National Social Security (NSSA) pensioners to enjoy grocery discounts, access cash and foreign currency in its outlets.

In a statement, OK Zimbabwe said all NSSA pensioners aged 60 and above can now enjoy discounted groceries and various other benefits at OK, OKmart and Bon Marche stores countrywide from the 11th to the 18th of every month.

Pensioners who opt to receive their monthly pension payouts through an OK Zimbabwe issued bank card (Shop Easy/Money Wave) will get a 10 percent discount while those who opt to continue receiving their pension through their usual chosen bank account will enjoy a 5 percent discount.

“Discount will only accrue upon presentation of a NSSA pensioner card, positive identity documents such as national ID, passport or driver’s licence,” read the statement.

The statement said additional benefits to NSSA pensioners are:

  • Free cash back at any OK, OKmart, Bon Marche stores for pensioners who opt to use the Shop Easy/Money Wave only card and this is subject to availability of cash.
  • Zero transaction costs on purchase for pensioners who opt to use the Shop Easy/Money Wave card only.
  • Pensioners who opt to use the Shop Easy/Money Wave card may access banking services from other banking institutions.
  • Access to buy USD cash under the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe foreign currency purchase facility through the OK Zimbabwe Bureau de Change subject to availability of cash and in accordance with RBZ guidelines if the facility remains available.
  • Access to in-store pharmacies where the facility is available at selected OK Zimbabwe owned pharmacies.
  • Free delivery of organised group purchases from pensioners in old people’s homes on condition that the order meets the minimum economic order quantity for delivery purposes.
  • OK Zimbabwe will endevaour to provide dedicated tills for pensioners to avoid queues and set up a pensioners’ desk to attend to queries from and offer assistance to the pensioners.
