This acquisition is aimed at providing comprehensive coverage for alcohol and drug rehabilitation services to Cimas medical aid members.
The alarming increase in cases of alcohol and substance abuse in Zimbabwe has exposed the urgent need for accessible and effective rehabilitation services. However, the high costs associated with such services present a barrier for individuals seeking rehabilitation.
Recognising the gravity of the issue, Cimas Medical Aid Society has taken a progressive step by extending coverage for alcohol and drug rehabilitation services to its members.
Cimas digital communication and public relations specialist Mr Tapfumaneyi Mugari said that through the strategic acquisition of Highlands Wellness Group, a renowned and trusted provider of mental health and rehabilitation services, the firm aims to alleviate the financial burden faced by individuals seeking help and improve their chances of successful rehabilitation and recovery.
“By accessing specialised alcohol and drug rehabilitation programmes offered by Highlands Wellness Group, Cimas members will benefit from evidence-based therapies, counselling, and a supportive environment that promotes holistic recovery and long-term sobriety. By covering the costs of these services, Cimas Medical Aid Society is removing a significant barrier and promoting a more inclusive approach to healthcare,” said Mr Mugari.
Cimas managing director Mr Tinotenda Mushapaidze emphasised the importance of rehabilitation and highlighted his company’s commitment to delivering global standard health and wellness solutions for its members.
Mr Mushapaidze also shared their efforts in raising awareness through their anti-drug and substance abuse campaigns, featuring popular musicians such as Asaph and Holyten, with the message, “It’s Never Too Late. Say No to Drugs.”

Cimas Medical Aid Society is a mutual society that pools contributions with the objective of assisting in financing, wholly or in part, the medical, dental, and allied requirements of its members when they arise.
It is one of Zimbabwe’s largest private medical aid societies catering for over 245,000 people, members and their beneficiaries.
