Beware of scam artists! Please do not send money to people you do not know, and if it is someone you think you know, give them a call first and chat to them. Ask questions, be vigilant!
Do not respond to inboxes of people asking you to help them change money in South Africa for US dollars here. Be aware that identity theft is a real issue, so someone in-boxing you could have also stolen a friend’s identity. Do not show your private cell number on your Facebook profile.
Be very cautious of anyone in-boxing you offering help or service- and asking for money upfront check them out. We cannot stress the above more. It is up to you as a person, to be careful- the simple rule is to not send anyone money, especially accounts out the country! The scam artists cannot scam if you are being vigilant, let’s stop them by doing our homework first. Remember they steal identities too, so if it is a “friend”, give them a call. — Zimvine Community Group
