THE Borrowdale Ratepayers and Residents Association (BRRA) has scheduled a golf fundraiser tournament set for October 8, 2022 at the Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club.

In a statement this week, BRRA confirmed that the proposed fundraising Golf Day has been confirmed for Saturday October 8, 2022 at the Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club. The event will see the introduction of the first golf tournament to raise funds for community projects.

The golf tournament committee chairperson Herbert Mashanyare said they have made a lot of progress in preparing for the event.

“The letters have been sent to potential sponsors and players. We are at the stage where positive responses are being received and cash is being collected at Total Helensvale which is receipted. We are now looking for an anchor platinum sponsor who will be assured of maximum advertising space. We have sent posters to all golf clubs and other relevant groups,” said Mashanyare.

BRRA executive committee member Pat Townsend also spoke about the forthcoming fundraiser tournament and urged residents to support this fundraiser as it will facilitate and breathe life into community developmental projects which have not received funding for some time.

“The fundraiser for Ward 18 will help in some of the key service delivery developmental aspects, including a waste separation centre, vendor’s market, our waste trucks, R&M & tools, water project at the district office, phase 2 clinic, painting of road markings at intersections and zebra crossings among other things,” she said.

The format of the tournament:   Better Ball Stableford Blind Alliance

The first Tee Off is at 11am – so players can get their essentials sorted before a nice day out on the beautiful golf course!

The committee is looking a premium sponsor who is prepared to bankroll the even to the tune of US$2,000. The sponsor who comes forward to support the initiative gets the opportunity to have their advertising at the vantage points of access roads, car park, putting green, the prize giving area and front lawn.

Alternatively, they could sponsor a hole for either US$200 plus 4 prizes (the same) or US$100 plus 4 prizes (the same).  BRRA are also looking for a sponsor for the floating island to the tune of US$250.

BRRA said should the sponsor also wish to partake in the Better Ball Stableford Blind Alliance competition they should communicate earlier as they cannot guarantee places once opened to the public.

The sponsorship fee will be required in full before the Wednesday October 5, 2022 and all the equipment the players would like to display on the day will need to be dropped off at The Brooke Clubhouse on the morning of October 8, 2022 from 6.30am. The Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club staff will do the setup (to avoid any damage to the course). However, the sponsors’ marketing staff may oversee the installation.

The organisers will also require the players’ logo in high resolution for the event’s artwork.

The money raised at the golf tournament will be used to service and maintain the City of Harare refuse trucks allocated to the BRRA. Under the refuse collection Memorandum of Understanding between the BRRA and council, the municipality has released two broken down refuse trucks which the residents have revived and are now dedicated to collecting refuse in Ward 18 (Borrowdale) and in Ward 42 in Hatcliffe.

Donated prizes will be for:
