CERTAIN sections of three major Harare roads will be closed from Sunday, September 18 2022 for the purposes of construction of the Mbudzi interchange, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has announced.

In a public notice, the Ministry said the affected sections of High Glen Road, Harare-Masvingo Road and Chitungwiza Road will be closed for one and a half years during which motorists will use a diversion route (Malvin Road, Forbes Road, Hopley Road and Stoneridge Road) created to ensure uninterrupted construction work.

Part of the foundation for the Mbudzi interchange.

The affected roads are those constituting four legs of roads into the Mbudzi traffic circle for a distance of 1.5 kilometres from the centre line of the traffic circle on all four legs.

These are a portion of the Harare-Masvingo Road at Mbudzi 1.5km before the centre line of the traffic circle and 1.5 km after the traffic circle; a portion of Chitungwiza Road 1.5km after the traffic circle going to Chitungwiza and a portion of High Glen Road 1.5km after the traffic circle going to High Glen.

“The portions of the roads shall be closed for a period of one and a half years and the motoring public shall be using diversion route Malvin Road, Forbes Road, Hopley Road and Stoneridge Road. The closure of portions of these roads is with effect from 18 September 2022. Motorists are urged to be patient during the construction period,” reads the notice.
