Residents say when it rains vehicles usually get stuck in the mud for days which affects movement of people and goods in the area.

The residents said the rehabilitation of Glen Forest Road must be treated as an emergency as this week cars were stuck on the road for days from the Glen Forest Memorial Park to the Goromonzi District Council following the rains which fell on Monday.

Residents said the situation was desperate motorists were stranded. In an interview, Glen Forest Residents Association chairperson Mr Benjamin Dyirakumunda said residents are pleading with the authorities to at least properly gravel Glen Forest Road and rehabilitate the drainage system.

He said the road serves as a network for commercial farmers and people who want to gain access to the closest clinic in the area.

“The plea is for the authorities to assist in proper road gravelling and rehabilitate water ways. Asking for tar may be wishful thinking but that is the ideal based on Vision 2030.

‘‘This road provides motorists passage to the Glen Forest Residents Commercial Farming area, the Glen Forest Memorial Park, Glen Forest College (a boarding school), Zimbabwe Defence Industries and Rankine Clinic which serves much of Hatcliffe, Mama Mafuyana (residential area) and the surrounding areas and access to a police post at Glen Forest Centre,” said Mr Dyirakumunda.
