Members of the Borrowdale Ratepayers and Residents Association recently helped clean up the Borrowdale District Office in one of the many residents’ initiative to help the City of Harare, which is struggling to provide services and even spruce up its own premises.

The BRRA members undertook a general clean up of the district offices and arranged the flower beds to give a welcoming look to the premises.

However, there was no water at the district office and the volunteers had to drive up to Helensvale shopping centre to look for water for the plants.

Grass cutters were also there and cut the grass to keep the place neat and prevent it from being bushy.

“Helped clean up at the District Office this morning. Sorted out the flower beds and generally cleaned up. Grass cutters were there too. Sadly zero water so had to go up to Helensvale and fill containers to water the plants… looking better already!” read a message posted on the Borrowdale Ratepayers and Residents Association Facebook Page.

It is such gestures and community participation by Borrowdale residents, which differentiates them from other Hararea residents who do not involve themselves in community affairs in their residential areas and wait for the hamstrung council to fix things.
