The championships will be conducted in accordance with the current laws of table tennis, the regulations for international competitions and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) regulations.

At the tournament, only ZTTU umpires will umpire all the matches including all the stages of the open events.

ZTTU secretary-general Tinashe Duri said all the players have agreed to abide by all the rules and regulations of ITTF and the organising committee.

“In the context of betting participants shall not, by any manner whatsoever, infringe the principle of fair play, show unsporting conduct, or attempt to influence the course or result of a competition, or any part thereof, in a manner contrary to sporting ethics. Any violation of this principle shall be disciplined according to provisions of ITTF regulation 3.5.3,” he said.

Duri said the tournament will be held under strict adherence to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Covid-19 regulations for the safety of the players, officials and fans.

“All participates should have their vaccination cards and everyone should come wearing their face masks as they will not be allowed to enter the venue without a mask. There will be temperature check points and everyone will be sanitised on entry.

“The venue will be fumigated prior to competition date and all those in attendance are encouraged to maintain social distancing all times,” he said.

Duri said the award ceremony will take place soon after the games have been finished.

ZTTU is an affiliate member to the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC), Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) and African Union of Sports Council Zone 5 (AUOSC Zone 5).
