The festival has been put to halt due to the COVID-19 induced restrictions which saw physical public, sporting and social gatherings being banned to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

ZAF which is hosted by ZimTorque is the biggest auto after-market car show in the country which started in 2012 at Westgate shopping mall.

The event is expected to be a top notch event with car shows and motorsport involving burnouts which will be the order of the day as is the norm at the festival.

This year there the event will feature car displays of vehicles from vintage collections to the latest models complemented by electric vehicles.

There will also be best static displays of all performance vehicles, audio vehicles, and stance vehicles at the festival expected to draw motorsport lovers.

BMW Gusheshes are a star attraction at motorsport events.

Among the categories are Battle of the biggest title of the show, Car of the Year, Battle of the Second biggest title of the show, ZAF Custom House of the Year, Battle of the spinners for the title, ZAF Spinner of the Year, Battle of the Fourth biggest title of the show and ZAF Crew of the Year.

Event organiser Daniel “Dannie” Manhanga said ZAF will be redefining the car culture in Zimbabwe through offering an exclusive car show and displays among other activities. Dannie said this year there will be more entertainment including performing artists and new dealerships for the first time. He said people should expect two days of great car exhibitions and the event affords all a chance to be part of the spectacle as those who cannot make on Saturday can enjoy themselves on Sunday and vice versa.

“There will be both custom cars and brand new cars as the show is all about awarding the best through the people’s choice. Bikes, lorries and busses also will be on display. Other activities will include test drives, burnouts, musical entertainment by Enzo Ishall and disc jockeys Dj Fyn, Selekta Base, Dj cskillz among many others.

“We are making the event a two-day event for the first time so that we can accommodate those who cannot attend on either day and being an award show Saturday is the day for test drives, showcasing and voting by attendees and Sunday is the final results,” Dannie said.

Dannie said there will be a variety of food on sale from American, Indian and Thai cuisines with a full bar.

ZAF started as an exhibition for modified vehicles only at Westgate Shopping Mall in 2012 but due to popularity it then roped in all vehicles becoming the largest car show in the country.
