RESIDENTS of Greendale and Mandara have been urged to take out their garbage early mornings on Thursdays as the City of Harare compactors are now collecting garbage in those areas on a weekly basis.
Ward 9 Councillor Musarurwa Stewart Mutizwa told Suburban that the garbage compactors start collecting garbage around 6am and urged residents to take out their bins that time.
“Council is collecting every road in Greendale and Mandara as the trucks start collecting at 6am.
“We have two refuse compactors collecting refuse in Greendale and Mandara,” he said.
Cllr Mutizwa said they recently brought tipper trucks which they used to clear illegal dumps on Harare Drive, Latimer, Trinity Square and at Kamfinsa shopping centre.
Residents have been calling for a refuse schedule as they were unsure when to take out their bins.
They said they sometimes see refuse compactors driving past their roads with some having their garbage collected while others miss the collections because it will be too late to take out their bins.
