Residents of Ward 7 have gone for a month including spending the Christmas and New Year holidays without water and are requesting an explanation from the City of Harare on their water woes.

Residents are also concerned about council workers from their area who do not help at all in explaining the challenges affecting council on water unavailability and other service delivery issues.

“We were publicly told that water would not be available from last Friday 18th to Sunday, 20th December.

“Today is the 24th and still no water!

“Can we have a public statement on this,” said a Kensington resident.

A resident of Aberdeen Road in Avondale West said they have not had water for over a month now.

Residents said they cannot afford to buy water as it is expensive.

“Mr Marodza (from council’s water department) please can you let us know when we are going to have water. I personally cannot afford to buy any water.

“All requests have been met with silence,” said a resident from Aberdeen Road.

A resident living along Oxford Road in Avondale last week said they have also gone for over a month without water.

But council acting spokesperson Mr Innocent Ruwende, when contacted for a comment by Suburban, professed ignorance over the water problem.

“We were not aware about lack of water in that ward,” he said.
