Triathlon teams selected for SA Youth Champs Athletes from Chisipite Senior and Dominican Convent Harare captured in action at the Arundel Cross Country Invitational.

TRIATHLON Zimbabwe has selected athletes to represent the country at the forthcoming South African Youth Championships.

The South African Youth Championships will be held on February 26 in Maselspoort and budding triathletes from a number of schools will represent Zimbabwe in the championships.

Triathletes from Hellenic Academy, Chisipite Senior, Core Academy, Siloam Academy, Peterhouse Boys, St John’s College, Eaglesvale will be hoping to do well in the championships.  

“Following the final selection event for the youth (13-15) age group, the selection committee have concluded the selection process and we are very proud to announce the team selected to travel and represent Triathlon Zimbabwe at the SA Youth Championships, Maselspoort – 26th February,” Triathlon Zimbabwe said in a statement.

Triathlon Zimbabwe also selected athletes to participate in the 2023 Africa Triathlon Junior Cup Maselspoort. The 2023 Africa Triathlon Junior Cup will be used to prepare for other forthcoming tournaments in March in Port Elizabeth and Egypt in October this year.  

“In addition to the youth team, the following junior athletes will be participating in the 2023 Africa Triathlon Junior Cup Maselspoort in preparation for the 2023 Africa Triathlon Junior Cup Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) in March which is an important qualifying event for possible selection to represent Zimbabwe at the Africa Triathlon Championships in Egypt in October 2023,” Triathlon Zimbabwe said.

The team will be accompanied by tour manager Marlise Van As, national coach Pamela Fulton and assistant coach Marcel Paulser

“We wish these ladies and gentlemen all the best at the Youth Championships and Africa Cup events and have no doubt that they will do their very best and represent this association and our country proud. Well done to you all, and good luck,” said Triathlon Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, athletes continued to outdo each other in a number of fixtures held last weekend.  

Chisipite Senior tennis teams posted impressive results against Arundel. In the A League the Under 14 team set the tone with a 12-0 conquest.  The Under 15 and 16 teams also chalked up 9-3 and 8-4 victories respectively while the first teams drew 6-6.

In the B League, Chisi recorded another 12-0 win against Arundel, this time courtesy of our Under 15 Team. The Under 14 and Second Team won 9-3 and 8-4 respectively, while the Under 16 Team lost 4-8.

The Arundel Cross-Country Invitational was held last Friday with nine schools participating in the age group categories, Under 15, Under 17 and Under 20.  

Hellenic were the winners of the Arundel Cross-Country Invitational with Peterhouse Girls the first runners-up while hosts Arundel were the second runners-up.
