This was the first motorsport show to be held since last year when the Covid-19 outbreak forced Government, health and sporting authorities to suspend all sporting activities as part of measures to curb the spread of the pandemic.

It was non-stop action and funfair at the festival that was held under strict Covid-19 regulations and it lived up to its billing with burnouts being the order of the day.

Burnouts are the practice of keeping a vehicle stationary and spinning its wheels, causing the tyres to heat up and smoke due to friction.

The teams competing in the Sunday burnouts exhibited mastery and professionalism in spinning, leaving thousands of spectators mesmerised as they drifted like the Fast and Furious Tokyo drift stuntmen.

The festival was last done in 2018 before the Covid-19 induced lockdown and people seemed to have been hungry for the high octane event as the venue was packed to the brim.

As is the norm, team Gusheshe team stole the limelight at the burnouts show as they showcased exciting drifting before team Altezza took the arena followed by the Subaru crews.

Bikers were not to be outdone at the event as they also thrilled the audience with their high powered motorcycles.

Top celebrities among them the Affirmative Action Group president Mike Chimombe and a number of prominent socialites who included Fally were part of the guests who graced the event.

Disc Jockeys also took turns to entertain the crowd while children were treated to jumping castles and water slides.

Event organiser Arnold “Selekta Base” Chingwerewe said he was happy that the event lived up to its billing despite him having faced many challenges in putting together the show.

“This was one of the most difficult shows to put up and most of my friends did not support me.

“I am happy with the turnout that we got despite the difficulties. I have gone through (reviewing) the event and it was certainly beyond my expectations.

“I want to thank our sponsors for pushing me to do this show because I was about to quit and cancel the event but they kept on telling me to go ahead with the show,” he said.
