SENIOR ratepayers in Harare have been urged to register with the City of Harare so that they can benefit from the municipality’s rates discount offer which they are entitled to.

In a notice to residents, Ward 41 Councillor Kudzai Kadzombe has advised senior citizens over 65 years that they are entitled to a discount when paying rates and should register with the municipality to benefit from the policy.

“Council has a senior citizen discount policy for all those over 65 years. I thought it necessary to share the information with you so that those residents who are not yet benefitting can register for the discount. I have attached below the application form and these are the requirements,” she said in the notice on the Ward 41 residents’ online platform.

Harare North Member of Parliament Mr Allan Markham also recently reminded residents in his constituency that anyone over 65 years has a right to get a rates discount at council and can also enjoy exemptions on radio and television licences.

The requirements for residents to benefit from the City of Harare rates discount policy are that they must be:

* 65 years of age

* Owner of the property

*  Certified copy of ID

* Certified copy of the (City of Harare rates discount) form

* Copy of bill
