Second Mbudzi interchange fraud suspect nabbed The Mbudzi Interchange under construction.

A second man allegedly involved in the US$200 000 Mbudzi inter-change road  construction scandal has been arrested after surrendering to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZAAC).

Levy Idana is part of a group that allegedly connived with a director in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development to defraud it of US$200 000 through a fraudulent compensation claim for a property at the site covered by the re-development of Mbudzi round-about.

Property owners whose buildings were razed down to pave way for the construction of the Mbudzi inter-change were compensated by the government.

But Idana and others allegedly connived with Ernest Shenje, a deputy director in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development, to lodge a fraudulent claim for compensation.

They were paid US$200 000, but the crime has since come to light, and Shenje was first to be nabbed.

In a statement, ZACC said Idana handed himself to its offices in the company of his lawyer, Arshiel Mugiya of Mugiya Law Chambers.

He was expected to appear in court on Tuesday facing fraud charges. – New Ziana
