ZANU PF shadow Member of Parliament for Harare North Cde Tongesayi Mudambo has drilled four boreholes in Hatcliffe, Hatcliffe Extension and Hatcliffe Consortium to alleviate the water challenges in the three suburbs.

One of the boreholes, which was drilled in Hatcliffe Extension at Pamuzinda Shopping Centre, is solar powered while the other two drilled in Hatcliffe Extension and Hatcliffe Consortium are manual.

Cde Mudambo told Suburban that he decided to drill the boreholes because the three suburbs hardly receive water from the City of Harare.

He said although the boreholes go some way to help the residents, during the summer season they might run dry because of the depleting water table.

“This time most boreholes can become dry.  These (areas where boreholes were drilled) are areas where there were no boreholes so as a community leader I sourced for funds for the boreholes,” said Cde Mudambo.

He said the solar powered borehole was a donation from Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council.

Cde Mudambo said he is also delivering free water everyday using a water bowser to other parts of the constituency facing the water crisis.
