The competition is held over two consecutive weekends between November and December.
This year’s event is set for November 24 to 26, and December 1 to 3 at Les Brown Swimming Pool.
Clubs expected to compete include defending champions Highlands, Vikings, Spartans, Otters, Sharks and Dorados.
HAS board member Nikki Johnsen said preparations are underway with swimmers training for the meet at their respective clubs.
“Preparations are going well. The swimmers are training hard and putting time and effort into their training,” said Johnsen.
The province has had a number of galas including short course competitions in preparation for the championships. Some of the swimmers took part at the annual national sprint gala in Mutare last month.
Going into their provincial meet they will be out to post improved times and chasing qualification for various tours lined up for next year.
“The seniors have five galas at Les brown as well as a short course at the Harare International School and our annual Mutare Sprint gala in preparation.
“Most swimmers are on their times with some promising up-and-coming juniors. Most will be trying to get qualifying times for up and coming tours next year,” said Johnsen.
The event is also used for selection of the provincial team to compete at the national championships next year.
Highlands are the title holders but they are likely to face stiff competition from Spartans who had a promising outing when coming tops at the National Sprint Gala last month in Mutare.
Highlands, who went into the competition as the defending champions were placed fifth.
National Foods are the main sponsors of the event. They will be sponsoring the championships for the third year.
