GWERU City Council has taken delivery of three tractors valued at US$93 000 through a partnership with a local car dealer, Dulys Gweru branch.

The development comes at a time when the local authority needs more equipment to cater for various services and projects being initiated in the city.

Speaking during the commissioning of the tractors, Gweru Mayor Councillor Hamutendi Kombayi hailed the private-public partnerships and commended Dulys for also playing its part in the

development of the city.

‘’I am excited with the progress that we are making as Gweru City council and I am thrilled to commission these three brand new tractors which will be of great use to the city through the various services that they are going to be used to do,’’ he said.

Cllr. Kombayi said the three tractors will be issued to Gweru Town House, Mkoba and Senga respectively and this is being done to decentralise operations for the benefit of the city.

The Mayor said the local authority is expecting new yellow machines by end of this week and a compactor by the end of March 2023.

He applauded Dulys Company for partnering with the council to buy the three tractors saying that the partnership has brought development to a progressive city.

Dulys Gweru Business Unit Manager, Peace Mango said they were happy to be working with the council to ensure that equipment that is used to service the city is bought and used effectively.

He said Dulys is going to rehabilitate the island on Robert Mugabe Road and work has already commenced to fix the road.

We have also written to the City of Gweru that we start fixing some of the damaged street lights in the Central Business District as a way of doing social responsibility to our beloved city of Gweru, he

said.Dulys will also supply garbage bins in the CBD to discourage people from throwing litter everywhere and thereby create unplanned dumpsites. —New Ziana
