THE opening of the renovated Greendale Shopping Centre popularly known as PaGomba in Greendale has been delayed until next month, according to the owners of the facility.

Mr Mahomed Jassat of Young Blood Investments Private Limited told Suburban on Friday last week that some of the business owners renting space in the revamped shopping complex have delayed moving in until August 1.

Tenants moving into the shopping complex had been expected to start operations on July 1 as the renovations are almost complete.

“We had to delay because some of the guys want to come in a bit later,” said Mr Jassat.

Some of the businesses who are expected to open branches at the renovated shopping centre include Simbisa’s fast food outlet Pizza Inn, pharmacies, butcheries, hardware shops and a leading supermarket, which will be the anchor tenant at the complex.

Young Blood Investments Private Limited recently bought the run down Greendale Shopping Centre, injected US$500 000 and set about to revamp the complex which has several buildings.

Most of the shops at the shopping centre were not being used for many years with a fuel station and a bar among the few functioning businesses. This forced Greendale residents living near the complex to drive to Kamfinsa or Chisipite for their shopping.
