Some residents have expressed concern over a lodge located at Number 46 Rossal Avenue in Greendale which they say does not fit with the residential environment.
The residents said Hualong Lodge, built this year, is also used for sporting games such as badminton and squash.
“It doesn’t blend well with the environment.
“This is a residential area. They are saying it’s ancillary use so it’s allowed.
“Yes any ancillary use should blend in with the environment that’s not a problem but that does not blend in with the environment.
“It’s out of place, out of space,” said a resident.
Another resident said she fears that everyone is going to start building similar buildings in the area.
“People are going to start having factories here,” she said.
When contacted for comment, authorities at Hualong Lodge refused to talk saying Suburban should drop the story because it was negative.
Highlands district officer, Mrs Stella Mukwedeya said there is a permit for the hotel or lodge and approved plans for the gym.
“According to my record, I have a permit for the hotel or lodge and approved plans for the gym,” she said.
