Situated at the Chinamano Corner, a new shopping complex at the intersection of Sam Nujoma Street and Josiah Chinamano Avenue in the Avenues area, the pharmacy offers a wide range of pharmaceuticals.

The pharmacy also offers a wide of range of other products including designer fragrances and has a well-stocked make-up bar.

The designer glass which are perfected by white board with silver and black labelling create the ideal ambiance for a modern-day pharmacy.

In an interview at the official opening of the pharmacy, Medical Investments Limited chief executive officer Mr Heath Dhana said the pharmacy was meant to serve the community with their pharmaceutical needs.

“Everyone knows the Avenues Clinic brand. We are 39 years old and we assume we are not just a hospital.

“We are active in other healthcare spaces. We run a cancer unit, oncology unit, we are a shareholder with Baines Emerging Group.

“We have a retail pharmacy already at the hospital but people do not really see it because it is part of the hospital.

“The Avenues, since we are a hospital, we have the most comprehensive amount of medicine and drugs in the country so we feed that into our pharmacies,” he said.

Mr Dhana said they have also identified that there were retail opportunities for over the counter services that the community needed.

“We feel that if you have a prescription, it is unlike that you come to our pharmacies and not find it there.

“That is why we decided that this is a great opportunity for us take the brand to the people.”

Pharmacy manager Patience Mudonhi said the plan for the pharmacy started last year when Chinamano Corner was under construction.

“When the complex was finished in July we then started the shop fittings and the designs until we opened in September.

“We are basically your community pharmacy, the kind of pharmacy that knows everybody who lives around.

“Our target market are the high heeled people who stay in town and who want to be associated with high class.

“Apart from medical products, we sell designer fragrances and we have a make-up bar,” she said.

Mudonhi said one of the reasons why they ended up having a pharmacy outside the hospital was due to lack of adequate space at The Avenues Clinic.

“We could not have a lot of things that associate with one’s health. In terms of expansion, plans are underway and when we are ready people will witness another launch.”
